Billy Goulart was born to William Jr. and Margaret (Mione) Goulart. He has three siblings: Donna, Michael, & Denise. The family home was Hartz Street, from there they lived in Riverdale Park and Washington Square.
He attended local schools graduating GHS 1967. Having a passion for percussion he played with Riverdale Drum & Bugle Corps, St Ann’s CYO Band (marching in Rose Bowl Parade), GHS R.O.T.C. band, & Atlantic Brassmen Sr. Drum & Bugle Corps. He was drafted in 1969 and discharged 1970 having served in Fort Meade, Maryland.
Seven years later in 1977 he enlisted back into the Army and spent 3 years in Frankfurt, West Germany as an executive administrative assistant for the Headquarters of 3rd Armored Division, Drake Kaserne. This was the same unit in which Elvis Pressley served years earlier. For his final year of his enlistment he was assigned to Fort Leslie J. McNair, in Washington D.C.
Billy worked for the U.S. Post Office in Manchester, MA for 25 years. When he retired, he finished his college studies graduating from North Shore Community College (with honors) majoring in Graphic Design. Two months later he met his current partner, Patty Barry, and for the next 15 years successfully operated a mobile food concession, “Nana’s Fried Dough.” Today he gives back by cooking fried dough for The Grace Center, AA Meetings, & the local VA office.
Billy has three children, four grandchildren, and one great granddaughter.
Billy and Patty spend winters as “snowbirds” in Venice, Florida.
